The Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-73) passes to the south of Harrisburg. Interstate 81 passes to the north. Interstate 83 connects the two and passes through the downtown area. Harrisburg sits on the east side of the Susquehanna. Numbered streets run north and south, parallel to the river. North-south addresses are divided by Market Street.

Bus: The CAT (Capitol Area Transit) system operates buses weekdays from around 5:30 AM to 10 PM. Rides within Harrisburg city limits (Zone 1) cost $1.50; transfers are $0.25. There is limited service on Saturday and no service on Sunday. (717-238-8304) Taxi: American Cab (717-901-8294).

Commercial flights land at Harrisburg International Airport (MDT), located about nine miles southeast of downtown Harrisburg on the east side of the Susquehanna River. (717-948-3900 or 888-235-9442) Capital City Airport (HAR), located four miles south of downtown on the west side of the river, handles corporate flights. (717-774-8335) Transportation from airport to downtown Harrisburg: Taxi: Cabs can be found at the main terminal at Harrisburg International. Expect to pay $18 to $20 to reach downtown. At Capital City Airport, cabs must be ordered by phone. Expect to pay $10 to $15 to reach downtown. American Cab can be reached at 717-901-8294. Limousine: A number of limo companies provide transportation to and from the airport.
