Austin is bisected by Interstate 35, which runs north-south and is elevated through much of the downtown area. Downtown streets are relatively easy to negotiate. Numbered streets run east-west. The best way to orient yourself is by Congress Avenue, which runs straight to the Capitol Building and divides east and west addresses. Cheap bus fares and the free 'Dillo trolley service makes public transportation an attractive option.
