The twin towns of Bryan-College Station -- collectively known as "Aggieland" -- are home to Texas A&M University (the state's first public institution of higher learning, founded in in 1876) and the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum (where official and personal papers of the 41st President of the United States are stored). On the campus of Texas A&M, you can visit the Stark Galleries for traveling art and science exhibits and the Forsyth Center Galleries, which house an exceptional collection of English cameos and American cut glass. Just off campus, Northgate is known for its live music scene and eclectic mix of restaurants. In Bryan, the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History is especially designed to stimulate young imaginations with its permanent and traveling exhibits on local natural history and outdoor nature trail. The Messina Hof Winery and Resort offers daily tours and tastings. For recreation, head to Lake Bryan where boating, swimming, camping, hiking and biking are all popular activities.
