Logan is the home of Utah State University, founded in 1888, and the center of the Cache Valley cheese industry. The city skyline is dominated by its fine Mormon Temple, which was completed in 1884. On the university campus, you can visit the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art. The university also operates the R.V. Jensen Living Historical Farm, documenting the development of agriculture in Utah in the early 20th century. The Daughters of Utah Pioneeers Museum has historical artifacts including a collection of musical instruments.Logan Canyon, northeast of the city, offers a scenic drive to Bear Lake State Park. South of the city, Hyrum State Park on Hyrum Reservoir is a popular recreation area in summer. Beaver Mountain draws ski and snowmobile fans in winter.
