Seattle boasts one of the most vibrant after-dark scenes in the entire Northwest. The birthplace of grunge and Jimi Hendrix, the Emerald City also offers venues for the finest in jazz, blues, and comedy.
For a one-stop nightlife extravaganza, head to Pioneer Square, where a plethora of clubs can be found within a few blocks of each other. Sip one of the New Orleans Creole Restaurant's famous mint juleps and enjoy their musical menu of jazz standards, zydeco, blues, and Dixieland played live every night of the week. For something other than music and dancing, Pioneer Square is also home to the Comedy Underground. National headliners and locals jokemeisters take the stage seven nights a week, just as they have been doing here for more than 25 years.
Since 1979, Seattle has been home to one of the country's premier jazz clubs, Dimitriou's Jazz Alley. Dizzy Gillespie, Nancy Wilson, Lionel Hampton, and McCoy Tyner are among the greats who have performed here.
The Crocodile Cafe, in Seattle's trendy Belltown neighborhood, was one of the city's first major venues to book alternative bands. After more than 15 years, they're still going strong, rocking Seattle with the best they can find. Only a block away from the bustling Pike Place Market, the Virginia Inn offers an eclectic mix of art, atmosphere, and conversation. Most of the numerous beers on tap are products of the Pacific Northwest, and this neighborly pub offers great, sensibly priced food, to boot.
