Marathon County Historical Museum has displays on lumbering and pioneer life in the former home of Cyrus C. Yawkey, an early lumberman. Also see Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum. Nearby is Rib Mountain State Park, offering hiking and camping as well as skiing at the Granite Peak Ski Area (with 73 ski runs and a 10,000-square-foot chalet). You can see for miles along the Wisconsin River Valley from the 1,940-foot summit of Rib Mountain, one of the highest points in the state.
