This 24-block area was settled when the first Chinese immigrants arrived in San Francisco in 1848. Today, it is the largest Chinese quarter outside of Asia. The food purveyors offer fascinating items and every side street is an adventure. Area attractions include the Chinese Historical Society Museum, the Chinese Culture Center, and the Pacific Heritage Museum. It is located three blocks north of Union Square.
