The California African American Museum is located in Exposition Park in central Los Angeles. This museum contains exhibits documenting the African American contribution to the settlement of the West and highlighting the accomplishments of African-Americans in all walks of life, from politics and religion to science, sports and the arts. The museum features a glass-enclosed sculpture court, three separate art galleries, a theater, and a gift shop. Throughout the year the museum offers special programs and exhibits, including dance presentations, video presentations and musical performances. The museum is open Wednesday through Saturday and the first Sunday of each month.
