The museum features permanent exhibits on The Ancient Mayas, Early Man, Mummies, Ancient Egypt, and Life Cycles and Ceremonies. A Children's Discovery Center features the hands-on exhibit Discover Egypt. Exhibits on human evolution, anthropology and ethnology were first gathered in the California Building by the Smithsonian Institution for exhibition at the 1915 Panama-California Exposition. They form the core of the museum's more than 72,000 objects. Directions: Take Highway 163 South. Exit University Ave. Go straight - you will be on 6th Ave. Turn left on Laurel. Cross the bridge - you will be in Balboa Park. The Museum of Man is the first museum on your left.
