This museum is the largest natural science and cultural history museum on the West Coast and houses more than 33 million artifacts and specimens. It features permanent and changing exhibits, and activities for families. Permanent exhibits include dinosaur and fossil halls, gem and mineral displays, history exhibits, a hands-on Discovery Center, and an Insect Zoo. There are three museums in the Natural History Museum family of museums. Other affiliates include the Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits located at 5801 Wilshire Boulevard; and the William S. Hart Museum and Ranch at 24151 San Fernando Road in Newhall.
