Rand McNally Releases TND™ Tablet for Professional Drivers

This month, Rand McNally released the TND™ Tablet, which marries the advanced TND™ truck GPS device with an Android tablet pre-loaded with trucking applications and access to the Android marketplace. Priced affordably, the in-cab device is designed to serve drivers on the road, in their mobile offices, and with their lives in general.

In the truck, the TND™ Tablet brings together solutions drivers need while operating their vehicles – such as truck-specific routing, mileage tracking, and a dash cam.

For business, the TND™ Tablet comes with pre-loaded applications from industry-leading partners – such as programs for  document scanning, load matching, and book-keeping assistance.

And, since the device is on the Android platform, the TND™ Tablet enables drivers to check email, keep up with social media, and download entertainment – all on a sharp, eight-inch screen.

The TND™ Tablet also features a commercial-grade, powered mount with an additional GPS antenna, ensuring that the navigation experience is superb. Rugged enough for the in-cab environment, the mount is magnetic, allowing for the TND™ Tablet to easily be removed for use at a truck stop, home, or in the sleeping berth.

Priced at a suggested retail price of $499.99 U.S., the TND™ Tablet is available at travel centers and select online outlets.

Multiple Operating Authority Capabilities Available for Fleet Management Devices

The Rand McNally Mobile Fleet Management devices now support Multiple Operating Authority tracking. The MOA feature, which tracks drivers' and trucks' Hours of Service separately, is now available for Rand McNally's TND™ 760, HD 100 and TPC 7600 solutions.

The new MOA feature tracks HOS for the week, summing available hours and assigning data for fuel tax, invoicing and other categories to the appropriate division within an organization. By accessing the Rand McNally Connect web portal, managers are able to pull reporting for drivers, vehicles, divisions and Authorities.

For drivers, the new feature includes access to an online driver portal, which allows them to review, edit, and certify a single daily HOS log (even if the driver performed work for multiple divisions). Drivers also may track their fuel purchases and obtain mileage reporting under each Operating Authority. The reporting is especially valuable for an owner-operator or leased driver responsible for his/her own business management and taxes.
