It is possible to the user to mount the Dash Cam on the dashboard, much like GPS units. To do this, you would need to purchase a dash mount disc, available from Rand McNally.
If mounting on the dashboard, the DashCam would be mounted up-side down.  In this case, you would have to change a setting on the DashCam to re-orient the Display and recorded content.  This setting is called VIDEO ROTATION.
