When the ELD 50 is plugged into the JBUS port you will see a sequence of flashing lights. The ELD will first flash white to indicate that it is powered.
When the ELD 50 senses vehicle data on the JBus the first flashing light changes from red to green. When the ELD 50 successfully gets the GPS satellite fix the second flashing light in that sequence changes from red to green. When the ELD 50 successfully connects to the Rand McNally DriverConnect app via Bluetooth the third flashing light changes from red to green.
The ELD 50 has additional light sequences when software is being updated or when it is in a sleeping mode. When the vehicle is powered off for an hour, ELD 50 will transition to sleeping mode and it slowly fades a blue light. When the device software is being updated it will flash alternating green and blue. During this time the ELD 50 MUST not be powered off.
